The count of companies running one technology: companies with at least one live countable detection of it on any of their hosts. One metric of 71 in the registry, 64 of them measured on 12 Sept 2026.

A company is counted once however many of its hosts carry the technology. The count is of companies, never of hosts and never of detections, and the share beside it is always against the companies in the index.
The 55,418,736 companies in the index, printed beside every share.
The long tail is real and is drawn, not hidden: 3,322 technologies reach 1,000 live roots, 711 reach 100,000 and 240 reach a million. A set that is truncated ends with the hatched remainder row.
